Feature and Follow #7

Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Basically, what you do is follow me, comment, and I'll follow back. Awesome, right?

This week's features are Carmen Jenner and The YA Bookworm.

Q: What writing device or trick most irritates you when reading a book?

A: I don't have many that I find irritating. I guess I don't really like the out-of-date pop culture references. Because I would read it and be like, Wait.. was that supposed to be funny or clever? So I definitely don't like those.

Comment below! Follow me and I'll follow back!

Hop on to the rest of the hop!

  2. So true! I get irritated by old technology. Computers with dial-up internet etc.

  3. Hi! My response was similar to yours. There's not much that irritates me so long as the story is good and keeps me interested.

  4. Hopping through. I agree with out of date pop culture references, although I'm so out of date that I may not always notice them.

  5. It took me a while to notice out of date pop culture references, since I'm probably the same age (or older!) than the authors I read. :)

  6. I actually don't mind them if they're used in the right way. Have you read Ready Player One before? It's whole plot is based on 90's culture and video games, and it was amazing :o

Thanks for visiting earlier! New follower (: And love the theme!

  8. I don't care for cliffhangers, but mostly I hate anything that happens due to coincidence. I like logical steps to a conclusion.

  9. I don't really come across those too much. The pop culture references would annoy me as well though.

  10. Yes, cultural references do make you go like "do I laugh or do I just read it and remember it?". Really cool answer!

  11. Pop culture references are fine every once in a while. I can think of a book series that throws them all the time...

I hate them too, its annoying reading a YA set in 2011 and it makes a 70s reference!
