{Bookish Survey} Cast a Harry Potter Spell! Part 1

This bookish survey is taken from Flip That Page and all the graphics belong to her as well. Why did I decide to take this survey? Well, I'm bored.. and it looked quite fun! I'll also link up my reviews of books mentioned if I've written them. Since this is quite a long bookish survey, I've divided it into two parts. Here we go :D

Reparo

fixes damaged things

A book that needs some serious fixing: How to Love (Katie Cotugno). The cover was absolutely gorgeous, but I was so annoyed with the character. The one I hated the most was the main character / love interest, Sawyer LeGrande. That boy got on my nerves so much and I almost DNFed the book because of him. You can see my review of it here.

Lumos

creates a narrow beam of light

A book that deserves more attention: Insignia (S. J. Kincaid). I really adored this book. Everything was just perfect for me and this is one of the books I'll cherish forever. I've never seen anyone rave about this on the blogs I follow so I think this really deserves more attention. My totally amateur and horrible review of it is here.

Nox

counters the effects of Lumos

An overhyped book: Insurgent (Veronica Roth). I honestly don't remember much from this book. I just remembered being super bored and scanning the paragraphs. I don't even think I finished it. I'm going to give this book a chance again since Allegiant is coming out soon. Totally going to read the whole series again from the start.

Accio

summons an object from a significant distance

A book you're anticipating: The Shadow Throne (Jennifer A. Nielsen). I might get looked down at by the fact that I chose a MG book. But what you don't know is how amazing the writing is. This book's movie / tv rights has even got picked up and is going to be directed by the guy who directed Game of Thrones. THAT'S how amazing this series is and I honestly cannot wait until the next one. My review of the first book and the second book.

Alohomora

opens unlocked doors, unless bewitched

A book you want to be more open about: I honestly can't think of anything for this one. All new adult / adult books perhaps? I really do read some new adult contemporaries from time to time but I never really review them on here.

Expecto Patronum

conjures an incarnation of positive feelings

A book that made you cry, or at least want to: Clockwork Princess (Cassandra Clare). This book made me tear up which was more than all the books have ever done to me. Before this, I only had the feeling of wanting to cry, but I actually cried for this one! My review of it is here.

Morsmordre

conjures the Dark Mark

A book you wish to mark as one of your favorites: Keepers of the Lost Cities (Shannon Messenger). I never thought I would adore this one as much as I did. BUT I DID.. and now it's forever on my favorites shelf. My review of it is here

Petrificus Totalus

petrifies victim

A book you wish to keep forever: The Bone Season (Samantha Shannon). This is a recent favorite that was awesome for me. This is the first thing that popped into my mind. If I can keep a whole series forever, you bet it would be Heroes of Olympus series. My review of this book is coming up soon!

Protego

shield charm

An intimidating book you keep putting off: The Faults in Our Stars (John Green). I'm scared of all the tears that I might have for this one. I'm also scared that I won't cry like everyone else. That is a legit worry, I tell you. Also, I'm already spoiled for this one.

Riddikulus

used against a boggart

A book with a deceiving synopsis: Keepers of the Lost Cities (Shannon Messenger). I already used this book but I'm using it again. I thought it was going to be about kids with super powers but I got a book about elves. Pleasantly surprised and very much welcomed.

Lacarnum Inflamarae

shoots fireballs

A book you wish to burn out of your mind completely: Evertrue (Alyson Noel). I wish to burn this whole series out of my mind. Please and thank you. I cannot tell you how messed up and stupid this series was. Heed my warning and do not under any circumstances pick this one up because you will regret it.

Wingardium Leviosa

levitates objects

A book you wish to reread: The Lost Prince (Julie Kagawa). I need to prep myself for the Iron Traitor! (but I also forgot everything that happened in the Lost Prince haha). My review of it is here.

Avada Kedavra

causes instant death

Worst book EVER: Marked (P. C. Cast & Kristin Cast). I just hated this whole series in general. It was good in the beginnging.. but it went downhill pretty fast. It has ten books now, I think.

That is the end of part one! Well that was fun, wasn't it? Share some of your own picks with or if you've written this survey as well, link me up to your post!

  1. The fault in our stars also took me a long time before I gave it a shot. I'm so happy I did :D Haha, everyone seems to hate Marked and I have the whole series.. (got it for free though) Keepers of the lost cities, The bone season & the series from Jennifer Nielsen are high on my reading list. Thanks for sharing :D
